The Division of Planning & Development is your go-to source for data and collaboration solutions.

The Bureau of Transportation Safety & Technology implements behavioral, engineered, and technology-rich solutions toward the goal of a safer transportation system in Kansas. Major responsibilities include safety campaigns, traffic crash data, traffic studies, signing, traffic control, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).

The Bureau of Transportation Planning collects and stores the data needed for strategic operations of the agency, and works with our partners toward multimodal solutions for the state. Major responsibilities include data about Kansas' road network and usage, KDOT's geospatial information system (KanPlan), KanDrive, forecasting and modeling, access management, metropolitan planning coordination, bicycle/pedestrian programs, public transportation programs, and rail/freight programs.

The Division office coordinates the agency’s Asset Management and Performance Measures efforts, which are part of US DOT’s Transportation Performance Management. It also prepares the budget for the Division.
